What are the criteria for the Premier League leading goalscorer?

The criteria for this offer is that the player must score their goals only in Premier League competition, not other competitions like the Champions or Europa Leagues, FA Cup or Carabao Cup. Only goals scored in the Premier League will count for your choice of player in this market.

Rather than back the winner outright, you can also place an each way bet on this market which will pay out if your chosen player finishes in the top three goalscorers in the division over the course of the season.

Who are the Genuine Contenders to win EPL Top Goalscorer?

  • Sergio Aguero (Man City) – 3/1 favourite

It is easy to see why Aguero is the favourite, Manchester City score the most goals of any team in the league and Aguero is their most naturally gifted finisher and their first-choice striker. However, Aguero is also somewhat injury prone and is often substituted in games on or around the 60-minute mark, so he may not get as many minutes on the pitch, especially late in games when teams are tired. He also has to contend with Pep Guardiola’s rotation policy with Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus.

  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) – 9/2

Last season’s joint-top goalscorer in the Premier League has enjoyed a solid start to the season with Arsenal and with Alexander Lacazette out injured, he has become the Gunner’s main man in attack. A proven natural goalscorer with blistering pace, if Arsenal can start to score more freely over the second half of the season then Auba could well be in with another great chance to finish top of the charts.

  • Harry Kane (Tottenham) – 5/1

The England captain has been a regular in this chart since breaking into the Spurs team and although Tottenham’s form is a real worry, Kane is still amongst the goals. He will score plenty and I’d be surprised to see him finish outside the top three this season (which may make him the best value each way bet) but ankle injuries do tend to bite for Kane at times and he could miss games if another one strikers at some point in the season.

  • Mohammed Salah (Liverpool) – 13/2

Liverpool’s Egyptian King has been the top goalscorer in each of his first two seasons in the EPL, sharing last year’s title with Aubameyang and teammate Sadio Mane. He’s made his best start to the season for Liverpool this year and if the Reds can continue their dominant form, and Salah remains free from injury, then the Egyptian could be a solid bet this season too.

  • Tammy Abraham (Chelsea) – 8/1

Abraham may well be the best of the outside bets for this title. Frank Lampard’s Chelsea have been scoring plenty of goals in recent games and since being promoted into the first team, Abraham has been the main benefactor of that. With Callum Hudson Odoi coming into the team back from injury too, I can see Abraham having many more chances for Chelsea over the course of the season.

  • Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) – 9/1

Although not as natural a goalscorer as Sergio Aguero or Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling has become one of the focal players for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team. Sterling scored plenty last year and seems on course to at least match that this season but he is a little wasteful in front of goals at times and although he plays more often than Aguero, he does tend to play a wider and deeper role in the team.

  • Sadio Mane (Liverpool) – 10/1

For me, Mane is the man to back for this title thi season. The Senegalese striker has been in sensational form for Liverpool throughout 2019 and has outscored Mo Salah over this period and has scored more goals than him this season for the Reds. His pace and directness and as a key part of Liverpool’s attacking trio with Salah and Firmino, I feel that Mane may well go one better than last season and win this trophy on his own.

  • Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) – 14/1

The ex-England striker has enjoyed a very good start to the season and seems to be rejuvenated under Brendan Rodgers stewardship at Leicester. With the likes of Maddison and Tielemans in the Leicester team, I think Vardy will get plenty of chances to score more this season and I think he is a very good wach way punt at 14/1.

Our Top Outside Each Way Bet

  • Teemu Pukki (Norwich City) – 50/1

Pukki finished top goalscorer in the Championship last season and has already made an impact in the Premier League. Norwich may not be one of the top teams in the division but they are a side committed to attacking football land I can see Pukki being their main goalscorer throughout the season. He’s made a great start and at 50/1, I think he is well worth an each way bet to finish in the top three.
