What are the top tips for this week’s Euro 2020 Qualifiers?

We are now reaching a critical phase in the Euro 2020 Qualifiers. Although next summer’s tournament is an expanded one across Europe, and will feature more teams than any other previous European Championships event, qualification spots, and places in the playoffs, are still up for grabs and this makes this penultimate couple of rounds of matches perhaps the most important yet.

Of the home nations, it is England that are best positioned to qualify from their group having won all four of their games comfortably so far. Northern Ireland, Wales and most likely, the Republic of Ireland all also have hopes of qualifying, or at least reaching the playoffs, but it looks like being another sorry tale of qualification disappiointment for Scotland after four defeats in their opening six games in their group.

Thursday 10th October

Fixtures & Match Result Tips

  • Kazakhstan v Cyprus – Home Win – 23/20
  • Belaris v Estonia – Home Win – 1/2
  • Austria v Israel – Home Win – 2/5
  • Belgium v San Marino – Home Win – 1/250
  • Croatia v Hungary  – Home Win – 1/3
  • Holland v Northern Ireland – Home Win – 2/11
  • Latvia v Poland – Away Win – 1/9
  • North Macedonia v Slovenia – Away Win – 27/20
  • Russia v Scotland – Home Win – 8/15
  • Slovakia v Wales – Draw – 11/5

Other Key Tips

Gini Wijnaldum to score any time for Holland v N.Ireland – 6/4

He may not grab too many goals for Liverpool from midfield, but Wijnaldum has become something of a regular goalscorer for the Dutch, grabbing key goals in several games, most notably twice against Germany. I think Northern Ireland will struggle to match his runs from midfield and I do feel he can continue his excellent run of goalscoring with a goal here.

Russia to beat Scotland 3-0 – 9/1

The Scots have endured a miserable qualifying campaign, that began with a 4-0 defeat in Kazakhstan and which has hardly improved from there. Russia are fast evolving into a very talented side and at home look very difficult to beat. Having beaten the Scots in Glasgow, I expect them to do the same here at home by a comfortable margin.

  • Andorra v Moldova – Away Win – 11/10
  • Czech Republic v England – Away Win – 9/20
  • Iceland v France – Away Win – 9/20
  • Montenegro v Bulgaria – Draw – 12/5
  • Portugal v Luxembourg – Home Win – 1/20
  • Turkey v Albania – Home Win – 4/9
  • Ukraine v Lithuania – Home Win. – 1/10

Other Key Tips

England to win and both teams to score – 12/5

Kosovo showed that England’s back line can be got at in their last game when they scored three times at St Mary’s to go down 5-3 to England and I can see the Czech Republic scoring at least one goal here. However, I think England look superbly set up to counter the Czech’s and I can see England causing them huge problems this way and still snatching the win even if they concede a goal or maybe two.

France to win and both teams to score – no – 6/5

Iceland will know that they have to win this game with Turkey and France leading the group with identical winning records, but I think this is a huge ask against the World Champions. I can see France wanting to keep things tight and hitting Iceland on the counter attack to secure the win and I would be surprised if the home side manage to get a goal in this one.

France Striker Kylian Mbappe to score at any time – Evens

As a little extra bet, you could back France striker Kylian Mbappe to score at any time in this game at even money, which I feel is an outstanding value bet given Iceland’s lack of pace in defence.

Saturday 12th October

Fixtures & Match Result Tips

  • Georgia v Republic of Ireland – Away Win – 6/5
  • Bosnia Herzegovina v Finland – Home Win – 21/10
  • Denmark v Switzerland – Draw – 11/5
  • Faroe Islands v Romania – Away Win – 1/4
  • Italy v Greece – Home Win – 2/11
  • Liechtenstein v Armenia – Away Win – 2/11
  • Malta v Sweden – Away Win – 1/12
  • Norway v Spain – Away Win – 9/20

Other Key Tips

Republic of Ireland to win 1-0 – 9/2

These two teams met in Dublin and Ireland secured a 1-0 win and with both teams being predominantly defensive minded, I can see a similar outcome to the game in Tblisi with Ireland just shading the win by a single goal.

Denmark v Switzerland – Draw and Both Teams to Score – 7/2

This is the other big game in the Republic of Ireland group and both teams will know that they need a win. I think that may lead to a more open and attacking game but I do feel that these sides are well-matched and a draw will be the most likely outcome, but a 1-1 draw, rather than a 0-0 scoreline.
