Cancel Your Sunday Lunch Plans For This Tasty £5,000 Tournament

The highlight of most of our Sundays is sitting down to a tasty meal with friends and/or family. But the highlight of every third Sunday in the month has got to be the £5,000 Sunday Lunch Points Special at Coral Poker.

Have you played it yet? If you haven’t, you’re in for a treat with this tasty tournament. Take a seat, give this guide a read and get ready for lots of chips with your Sunday Lunch Points Special.

What is the Sunday Lunch Points Special?

This is a tournament that you buy in with points. And the great news is, it’s a very low buy-in of just 25 points.

We reckon a lot of players have that many points just knocking around their account already, so that means lots of people have the chance to enter. If you don’t, it’s relatively easy to rack up that amount of points in a short amount of time.

And for that low points buy-in, you can win a share of £5,000. A very generous exchange for Sunday Lunch Points Special, in our opinion.

When is this month’s Sunday Lunch Points Special?

As we said earlier, it’s taking place this very Sunday. So that means it’s on 21 July, and the start time is 14:00 UK time. Very fitting for a lunch-themed tournament.

Tell me more about the tournament structure

This is a classic tournament structure that should be familiar to most poker players. At least the ones who like tournament poker.

There are 9-handed tables. There’s no limit. And it’s a hold’em event. You can register until level six, blinds rise every 15 minutes and your starting stack is 10,000 chips.

The Sunday Lunch Points Special won’t start unless at least 50 players join and the maximum capacity player field is 5,000.

It’s also a freezeout tournament.

You might not have learned about freezeouts before, but they’re a very simple concept. And we kinda wish all tournaments were freezeouts. It basically means you get one entry and one entry only. You can’t buy back in if you bust, you can’t top up your stack mid-game. Everyone gets a single entry and they’ve got to play their little socks off with it.

It leads to a more fair game, with tighter and more considered play. Proper poker. And that’s why we love it.

How do I enter?

Like we said before, the majority of players enter by just simply paying at 25 points entry fee. But sometimes there will be special invite tickets deposited into player’s accounts, which you can use to enter the next tournament. Don’t wait to register with them. Those tickets only last for 30 days before they expire.

Either way, to find the tournament, go to the Coral Exclusives tab in the Coral Poker app.

I’m not around this Sunday. When are the next tournaments?

If you can’t make this tournament, you’re in for a little bit of a wait, we’re afraid. They take place on the third Sunday of every month. So as long as Coral keeps on running them, here are the dates of each tournament between now and the end of the year:

  • 15 September
  • 20 October
  • 17 November
  • 15 December
